Deep dive

A few things people often ask before hiring a Divi website designer

If you like to understand the “why” behind the work, these expandables go a bit deeper into Divi itself, how I work, and who you’d be working with.

Is Divi the right choice for your next website?
When Divi shines, and when I’ll suggest something else.
+

Part of my job as a Divi website designer is being honest about whether Divi matches what your organization actually needs.

Divi is usually a strong fit when:

  • You want a custom WordPress site your team can update without a developer for every change.
  • You have multiple page types (services, locations, programs, listings) that need a consistent design.
  • You like the idea of reusable layouts instead of one-off pages.
  • You care about long-term maintainability more than a one-time flashy launch.

Divi may not be ideal if:

  • You need a complex web app or SaaS product, not a marketing site.
  • You want a tiny one-pager that will rarely change.
  • Your team will never log into WordPress and prefers a locked-down hosted solution.

On our first call, I’ll tell you plainly if I think Divi is the right tool—and if not, I’ll suggest what I would use instead in your situation.

Already on Divi and not happy with the result?
Rescuing and refining existing Divi sites is a big part of my work.
+

A lot of clients come to me with an existing Divi site that feels slow, messy, or off-brand. It doesn’t always mean you need to throw everything away and start from scratch.

Common problems I fix:

  • Pages that feel heavy or awkward on mobile.
  • Layout packs that no longer match your services or audiences.
  • Inconsistent styling from years of one-off tweaks.
  • Confusing navigation that grew organically over time.
  • Teams afraid to edit anything in Divi in case they break the layout.

Ways we can improve an existing Divi site:

  • Audit your current Divi build and prioritize quick wins.
  • Clean up sections and modules so layouts are easier to maintain.
  • Refine key pages (home, services, booking, donate, listings).
  • Improve performance with better images, structure, and caching.
  • Train your team so day-to-day updates feel safe and straightforward.

If you already have a Divi site, tell me what’s not working when you reach out about your project.

Choosing a Divi website designer

Most Divi designers vs working with Divi Dojo

If you’ve been searching for a Divi website designer, you’ve likely seen plenty of quick builds and layout packs. Here’s how the experience at Divi Dojo is intentionally different.

Designing Divi sites since 2016
Custom WordPress Divi builds for firms, tourism boards, nonprofits, orchestras, rental management companies, and real estate platforms.
Most Divi designers
Layouts first, strategy second
Often start from a layout pack and try to tuck your content into it.
Divi Dojo
Strategy, then custom Divi build
Start from your goals, then design and build a Divi site that fits how you actually work.
Approach
Start from a demo or layout pack and adjust it just enough to match your logo and colors, even if the structure doesn’t really fit your services or audiences.
+ Start from your organization, content, and goals, then plan the sitemap, page types, and user flows before designing anything in Divi.
Strategy
Focus on making the homepage look impressive, but less on how visitors actually move from landing to booking, inquiring, or supporting your work.
+ Treat the site as a working asset: design each key page and section around clear actions for your visitors—leads, bookings, donations, memberships, or signups.
Build
Heavy on one-off tweaks, duplicated sections, and ad-hoc modules that work on launch day but are hard to maintain or extend over time.
+ Build clean, structured Divi layouts using the theme builder and reusable patterns, so updates and new content slot in without creating a fragile mess.
Experience
Broad WordPress experience with Divi as one of many tools, but not always deep experience with more complex, content-heavy builds.
+ Dedicated Divi website design work since 2016, including sites for firms, tourism boards, nonprofits, orchestras, rental management companies, and real estate platforms.
Performance
Looks fine on a large monitor, but may feel heavy or awkward on mobile, with little attention to performance or on-page SEO basics.
+ Pay attention to image optimization, layout structure, responsive behavior, and on-page SEO fundamentals so your Divi site is fast, readable, and search-friendly.
Support
Hand off the site at launch and move on, leaving your team hesitant to update anything for fear of breaking the layout.
+ Offer training and ongoing support options so your team can confidently update content in Divi, with a stable, maintainable build as the foundation.

Selected divi projects

What “Divi website designer” means in real client work

A few examples of how I use WordPress and Divi to solve real problems for organizations— from firms and tourism boards to orchestras and proptech platforms.

Every project starts from your goals, not a layout pack. The common thread: clear structure, focused content, and a Divi build that’s fast, clean, and easy for your team to work with.
Brochure & services
Accounting firm • NYC

Rosen Kuslanksly CPA & Co.

A multi-practice New York City accounting firm needed a site that reflected their size, credibility, and specialties without overwhelming visitors. The new Divi build organizes services, industries, and resources into a structure that’s easy to navigate for both prospects and existing clients.
Goal: Clear practice-area navigation & inquiries Role: UX, design, and full Divi build
Result: A polished, firm-level brochure site where visitors can quickly find the right practice area and reach the appropriate team instead of getting lost in generic pages.
Travel & tourism
Tourism board

Nevis Tourism Authority

Nevis needed an official destination site that helped visitors plan their stay on the island: where to stay, what to do, and how to get there. I used Divi to build a content-rich site that balances beautiful imagery with structured guides, making it easy for travelers to move from browsing to building an itinerary.
Goal: Plan trips & showcase the island Role: Information architecture, design, Divi build
Result: A modern, mobile-friendly tourism hub that supports destination marketing while still feeling simple for visitors who just want to know “what should we do in Nevis?”
Membership & impact
Arts & nonprofit

Baltimore Symphony Orchestra

The Baltimore Symphony needed a place to tell the story of their programs and impact, and guide donors and members toward the right next step. I designed a Divi experience focused on narrative, clarity, and calls to action instead of just listing information.
Goal: Highlight impact & support membership Role: UX, visual design, Divi implementation
Result: A focused impact hub that connects stories, programs, and giving options in one place, instead of scattering them across disconnected pages.
Platform & search
Real estate & proptech

Wahi — Smart Home Search

Wahi needed a front-end experience for a data-rich home search platform in Canada. Using Divi as the presentation layer, I helped shape layouts that surface key property information without feeling overwhelming, while supporting account and membership-style functionality behind the scenes.
Goal: Make complex property data feel usable Role: Layout design & Divi build for key pages
Result: A modern, data-forward interface where visitors can explore listings with confidence instead of feeling like they’re digging through a generic listing feed.
Divi website designer FAQ

Questions people ask before we start a Divi project

Here are straightforward answers to the questions I hear most often about hiring a Divi website designer and working together on a custom WordPress build.

If you don’t see your question here, that’s okay. You can always send a quick note with what you’re working on and I’ll reply with honest next steps—even if that means referring you somewhere else.
What does a Divi website designer actually do? +
A Divi website designer plans, designs, and builds custom websites using WordPress and the Divi theme. I handle the full stack for you—site structure, UX, visual design, and the actual build—plus integrations like forms, bookings, WooCommerce, or memberships so everything works as one system.
How is this different from just using a Divi layout pack? +
Layout packs are a good starting point, but they’re generic by design. I treat Divi as a framework, not a shortcut—planning your sitemap, content structure, and visual system around your organization, then using Divi to express that. The result is a site that feels like yours, not a template a thousand other people use.
Can you migrate my current site into a custom Divi build? +
Yes. I regularly migrate sites from other builders (like Elementor, Wix, or Squarespace) into fully custom Divi builds. The goal is to improve your design, structure, and performance while preserving SEO value and content that’s already working for you.
Will my team be able to update the site after launch? +
Yes. One of the reasons I like Divi is that non-technical teams can learn it with a bit of training. I build with reusable sections and clear naming, and I can include a training session or Loom walkthroughs so your team feels confident editing text, images, and basic layouts without breaking the design.
What’s the typical timeline for a Divi project? +
For most brochure, booking, or membership sites, the typical timeline from kickoff to launch is around 3–6 weeks, depending on content and integrations. I’ll map out a realistic schedule during the discovery phase so you know when each milestone will land.
Do you offer ongoing support once the site is live? +
Yes. I offer maintenance and support options for updates, performance tuning, and small improvements so your Divi site keeps working as your business evolves. If you’d rather not think about updates and backups, a care plan can keep everything running smoothly.

What is a Divi Web Designer?

Well, to put it simply, a Divi web designer is someone who strategizes, conceives, crafts, and often maintains websites. It’s important to clarify that a web designer doesn’t merely assemble websites; they are the creative minds behind the digital experiences.

This distinction might seem insignificant, but entrusting your project to someone who solely relies on Divi layout packs or pre-made templates can result in costly and frustrating outcomes. I always make new sites from scratch and sometimes, take a re-design and start from scratch as well.

Since the mid 90’s, I’ve been a traditionally-trained graphic designer with a decade of dedicated honing of my talents and proficiency as a visual communicator. My journey began in design school in San Diego and continued through employment at video game companies and web design firms. During this time, I absorbed the nuances of concept development, color theory, composition, typography, illustration, and photography, all before venturing into website design and coding in 1999.

By the time I created my first Divi website project in 2013, I had already spent the prior ten years working in the Ecommerce industry designing online shopping sites. This continuous learning process provided me with valuable insights into the inner workings of web design. As the web design industry transitioned from skeuomorphism to minimalism, I found myself increasingly designing directly in the web browser, eliminating the need for elaborate, time-consuming, and costly full-color non-functional mockups.

In essence, a web designer’s primary task is to design websites, regardless of the tools they employ. For me, Divi happens to be my preferred web design tool, one that I’ve exclusively utilized to craft new websites for more than 10 years.

If you're ready to take your website to the next level with Divi Dojo as your personal Divi website designer. No need to worry, big or small, brand new or re-design
