LEC loves parent volunteers.   While volunteering is not mandatory, we love when parents are actively involved on campus.

All instructors at LEC have a degree and/or credentials/certifications.

Lighthouse uses a specified curriculum for each grade level and class.   If you enroll in a class a curriculum fee will be paid in order to purchase the student materials for that class.

Also, because all of our families are homeschooling families, there is the liberty to supplement and add additional activities on home study days.

Lighthouse offers a 5% paid in full discount if enrolling for an entire year of full day program classes.  This payment must be made prior to August 1st.

We do not offer any other discounts at this time but please contact our office if you need financial assistance.

Each child has different needs and works at their own pace.   What may take one child 15 minutes to complete could take another child 45 minutes to complete.  On average, we suggest planning for around 2 hours of work to complete on home study days.  When children are under the age of 8 or 9 a parent or caregiver will need to be involved in teaching reading, writing, and math.  All assignments are communicated through Google Classroom.

Lighthouse believes that student learning takes place both inside and outside of the classroom.  Homework with Lighthouse classes could include projects, a review of concepts, or additional support materials.   Homework is minimal so students can explore life outside of academics.

Our curriculum varies depending on the class.  However, all of our curriculum is faith neutral and does not teach critical race theory, gender/sex ed, or other scientific beliefs.

The curriculum still meets California state standards without those components.

Lighthouse Education Center offers classes for students enrolled in independent study charter schools or private paying (non-charter) families.

Charter Families:

Charter families are enrolled with an independent study charter that is considered a public school within the state of California.  These families will receive funding from the state school that can be allocated towards our classes.   The charter school teacher will meet with parents and students monthly to review the body of work completed and discuss assignments for the upcoming month.  The charter school holds all student records and provides state testing.

Non-Charter (PSA) Families:

Non-Charter families are private paying homeschooled students who do not have any state school oversight.   Parents are responsible for filing a PSA (private school affidavit) with the state in October.  Additionally, parents are required to maintain student records.  Lighthouse will assist parents with this simple process.
